Why Hire a Wedding Videographer?

Like the majority of couples, photos are a must for their weddings. And I absolutely agree! Photos are easily shareable and they last forever, especially in the current digital age.

But now, you have an option of hiring a wedding videographer. Why would you, a soon to be married couple, pay an extra thousand or more to have your wedding recorded? After all, the average wedding in Winnipeg is reaching upwards of $30,000.

I’ve come up with 3 reasons why a wedding videographer might actually be worth the investment. Here we go…

  1. A wedding video conveys emotion and tells a story.

A wedding video, specifically a shorter, cinematic highlight film tells a story and can really convey emotion unlike any other medium. You can see the bride putting on her stunning dress, the reaction of the groom when he first sees her, and the joyful tears of parents and grandparents when the vows are said.

You could say, “Well why don’t I just pay my cousin to set up his phone on a tripod and press record?”

In all honesty, you could, but that might not be footage you want to watch over again and again. Wedding videographers, like myself, create films as a form of art. We pay attention to detail, like lighting, angles, audio and much more. We want to create a timeless piece that you will want watch a thousand times over and share it with all your family and friends.

  2. Sharing videos is now easier than ever!

With the invention of faster internet and social media, sharing videos is now easier than ever before. Now, your favourite aunt, who lives on the other side of the world can watch your wedding video and feel as if they were actually there. That’s amazing! There has been no other point in history where that has been possible.

Currently, as we are facing the difficulties of COVID-19, it may not be possible to have every guest you anticipated present at your wedding. Video is the best option to ensure that everyone can get a chance to watch your wedding and feel as if they were there. And that leads me to my last point…

  3. A wedding film feels real.

You know when you watch a movie and you actually feel like you’re living it? That’s a perfect example of what a wedding video can do. Maybe later down the road, you and your spouse want to sit down and relive your wedding experience. What better way to do that than watch your wedding video?!
